The Garrick Fun Times

Jillie learned about a fun family activity idea from her Young Women's leader and wanted our family to try it too. For Family Home Evening she brought out a jar, paper, markers and stickers. We created what she calls "The Garrick Fun Times" jar.

She has us write on strips of paper things we'd like to do together as a family- and tried to keep most of them the type of activity that doesn't cost money. We then pick one out and schedule it for one day during that week. So here's the one that we picked last time:

and so we did...

Jackson read the recipe to us (with Jillie's help) and everyone added the ingredients and spooned out the dough. Everyone also helped eat them! YUMMY!!

We had a lot of fun together!

Thanks so much Jillie!

Ok- I call those cookies "Shannon's Cookies" and I can just taste them now. YUM!! One year Shannon made me a whole batch for christmas and put them in the coolest "holly" bag. Truth be told, I still have that bag! (No cookies though.) Great memories! Miss you Shannon!

Great idea fir the fun jar. We will have to try it too. I have a feeling DisneyWorld is somewhere in that jar!!! Oh yeah, I need to reserve that don't I?

Um.... "fir"??? Sorry. That's how we talk here in the backwoods! :)

"That is a great idea FOR the fun jar!"

Ok- you really need to take the word verification off. It is cramping my flow...

Great idea. I fear that all of Aidan's ideas would be "make cookies". Oh who am I kidding. All of my ideas would be "make cookies". We really like cookies. Those look great. May I suggest posting the recipe?

Andrea- I don't know that I'm allowed to share the recipe. I think it may be a Garrick family secret. I'll have to check on that so I don't get disowned! :)

Shannon- is it a secret?

Yes we have no desire for Nik to be disowned so no sharing of the recipe :) It is a family secret :)
Holly I remember that- can't believe you still have the bag!! And I so miss hanging out with you!My kid's think the recipe is mine too but I keep reminding them it was made up by Grammie G.
Nik I think I will take this idea too- it is a great one!

I totally want to make one of those jars! How fun!

Those cookies look so dang good. I tried to make chocolate chip cookies this week and they were a disaster! I don't get it. I followed the directions perfectly. It's a recipe I love and they just flopped. Sad pregnant woman moment :(
